You have to love a site named the Naked Scientists! I’m all over the web researching whatever pops into my head at any given time. Tea Tree Oil was on my mind today because I was thinking about our 3 Step Hair Complex in our Tea Tree Oil Shampoo and Tea Tree Oil Conditioner. Speaking of Tea Tree Oil, the price has jumped a full $10 per pound in a short year. I’m not sure if this applies to cheap Tea Tree Oil.
Anyway…the Naked Scientist had some interesting info on Tea Tree Oil in their article, “Does Tea Tree Oil Have Proven Anti-Bacteria Effects?”. (Dec, 2o01)
“Tea tree oil contains about 100 chemicals and of these 7 oils called terpenes are the commonest. If small amounts of these terpenes are added to cultures of bacteria, the numbers of bacteria fall by over 90%. It looks like the terpenes are punching holes in the bacteria, causing them to die.”
