LACTYLATES for Sulfate Free Shampoos and Body
Washes
(Ingredient List)
All shampoos and body washes have
a surfactant systems that acts as the cleansing agents. Sulfates are
the most popular surfactants (as well as the most cost effective)
but they can be harsh depending on the percentage of the sulfates in
the formula. Because of the harshness, secondary surfactants are
introduced to diminish the harshness.
The call for sulfate-free shampoos in the
marketplace has lead surfactant systems to be created with
predominantly secondary surfactants acting as the primary. As
secondary surfactants are more expensive, so will be the products
that are created from these systems.
Lactylate Surfactants are good moisturizers and emusifiers but also
aid in foaming. Furthermore, they are mild to the skin and eyes and
reduce the stripping of the natural oils on the skin and hair.
Great for mild shampoos and body washes as well as
baby products.
